A LEGACY FOR TOMMORROW
The University offers a number of planned giving opportunities for donors who wish to make substantial gifts to Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in ways that complement their personal financial, retirement or estate planning.
Bequests, Wills and Trusts
You may include specific language in your will or trust, naming Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science or one of our four colleges as a recipient of a planned gift. You may include: tangible assets, such as cash, personal or real property, a percentage of your estate or the residue of your estate; or intangible assets, including life insurance, retirement savings or other deferred gifts.
Life Insurance Policies
Paid up Life Insurance policies are one of the easiest ways to make a gift to the University. Just designate the University as the owner and beneficiary of the paid up policy.
Life Income Gifts
The University offers donors many life income gift options which provide the donor or designated beneficiary with a scheduled income and potential favorable tax considerations.
Charitable Remainder Trust
This type of irrevocable trust allows the donor to specify how income and principal are to be distributed. The trust can be for the lifetime of the donor or for a specified number of years. This type of trust offers income on a percentage basis that can be hedged against inflation over the period of the trust.
Charitable Gift Annuity
This type of annuity pays a fixed dollar amount for life. The amount of payout is based on the income beneficiary’s age at the time the contract is signed. Charitable Gift Annuities are irrevocable.
Deferred Gift Annuity
This type of annuity allows the donor to claim an immediate income tax deduction but defers receipt of income for a specified number of years.
Charitable Lead Trust
This type of trust allows for an income producing asset to generate income for the University for a fixed term. At the end of the term, the asset is returned to the donor or to their designated beneficiary.
