Message from the Dean: Dr. Russell G. Roberston

There has never been a more exciting time to consider a career as a physician. The environment into which you will enter is dynamic, rapidly changing and open to innovation. In that light, you will want to select a medical school that will prepare you well to adapt to new health care settings where the foundations are only now being developed.

That school is Chicago Medical School. Our innovative, state-of-the-art curriculum will prepare you to practice as an essential member of a health care team. Knowing and applying your special skills as a physician and then implementing them side by side with nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, podiatrists, physical therapists and other members of a coordinated team of providers, will lend you a competitive edge both in your education and your practice unavailable at any other medical school in America.

Message from the Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Medical Education: Dr. Douglas Reifler

I second Dean Robertson’s comments and also welcome you to Chicago Medical School. Our goal is to provide a nurturing learning environment where you can achieve your full potential in medicine. We will challenge you to gain essential knowledge to practice medicine, but knowledge is only the beginning of what our medical school offers.

We will help you to become proficient in six important realms:

--Medical and scientific knowledge

--Patient care and prevention

--Professionalism and self-awareness

--Practice-based, life-long learning

--Systems-based, inter-professional practice

--Interpersonal and communication skills

Each of these realms will be vital to your effectiveness as a physician, and each of you will arrive with a unique combination of strengths. We look forward to supporting you as you develop your strength in all of the essential realms.
