Information Technology Services provides the University community with comprehensive support services for all technology needs. Through the ITS Help Desk, a member of the community who is experiencing a problem with their internal computer, telephone, network connection or any other related problem, may receive assistance. More information can be found on our Information Technology Services Website.

Student Email

Student email accounts are hosted by Google. In addition to a 7GB inbox with spam protection, Google Apps provides students with productivity tools such as calendars and document sharing. You should receive your initial access information for your Google email account at Orientation. More information about Google Apps can be found here, or you can visit our FAQs Page.

Note that your Google ID and password is separate from the University issued ID and password that will allow you access to resources such as computer labs, wireless networks, and WebAdvisor. This was done to allow you to keep your email account after graduation, and to use portable devices such as cell phones and PDAs to access your email.

Wireless Network Information

Wireless network access is available in most public areas of the main campus. This includes the library, student union, cafeteria, main lobby, and all major classrooms. Most private areas (such as research labs, faculty offices, conference rooms, and small classrooms) are not covered at this time.

The wireless network is secured and can only be accessed with a University provided ID and password. The authentication method for accessing our wireless network is WPA2 or PEAP which is enabled on most laptop computers manufactured in the past few years. Detailed instructions on accessing the wireless network are available here.

If you have questions about your specific computer equipment or about a computer purchase that you would like to make as it relates to our wireless network, please contact the  ITS Help Desk for more information.

Technology Purchase Information

Students can get University pricing on technology goods, but must pay taxes on their purchases. GovConnection is the University's primary technology vendor, and they carry a variety of items including desktop and laptop computers, monitors, printers, software, and even consumer electronics.  We have secured competitive pricing through our E&I cooperative GPO contract, which also includes free shipping. To view University pricing and make a purchase, you must create a profile that associates you with the University by using the following link: www.govconnection.com/rosalindfranklinpersonal. More information about technology purchases may be obtained from the Purchasing Department.

WebAdvisor

WebAdvisor (also known as MyWebAdvisor) is a secure, web-based application that allows students to access their University information. The following are some examples of the information available in WebAdvisor: academic advisor information, course grades, course enrollment, financial aid information, student profile information, unofficial transcripts, and tuition account information. In addition, students will be able to submit requests via MyWebAdvisor such as request an official transcript, request an enrollment verification to be sent to a location of your choosing. More information on MyWebAdvisor is available here. You will learn more information about WebAdvisor at Orientation.
