Rebecca Durkin 
Associate Vice President
 
 
Rebecca Durkin received her BA in English Literature from Penn State University and her MA in Student Counseling and Personnel from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In 2003 she began her career at RFUMS by developing RFUMS’s first ever student housing program and was then asked to develop a central student affairs program at the University. She has worked in the field of Student Affairs for over 15 years at various institutions including Pennsylvania State University, Mercyhurst College, the University of Pittsburg, Johnstown and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Throughout Rebecca’s career she has been dedicated to providing students’ with support through their efforts at personal and academic achievement while ensuring that the student environment provides enriching developmental opportunities. Rebecca also serves as a guest speaker at other institutions and at special events in the areas of leadership and diversity.
 
 
 

 
 Steve Weiand
Director, Academic Support Services
 
 
Steve Weiand received his B.A. in English from the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee and his M.S. in Education from Indiana University.  Steve’s experiences in the field of Student Affairs include residence life, judicial affairs, programming, and academic support.  He has worked at Indiana University, University of Minnesota Twin Cities, University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee and the Medical College of Wisconsin.  Steve joined the RFUMS community during the summer of 2006 and is the Director for Academic Support for the University.  Steve enjoys cooking, reading and spending time with friends over a cup of coffee. He is an ardent fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and UW-Milwaukee Panthers.
 
 
Allegra Bohlen
Academic Support Specialist
 
 
 Allegra Bohlen was raised in Springfield, Illinois. She graduated from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale in 2002 with a  bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Integrated Marketing Communications along with a minor in Spanish. She received a one year public service fellowship in 2002 from the state of Illinois in which she work for both Governor George H. Ryan and Governor Rod Blagojevich. Then she moved to Chicago for graduate School. She graduated with her master's in education from DePaul in 2007. She earned her degree in human services counseling with a concentraion in student affairs. She has lived in Chicago ever since.
 
 
Shelly Blohowiak
Program Director, Student Life
 

 
 Shelly has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Masters Degree in Administrative Leadership and Adult Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She  has worked at Rosalind Franklin University since October of 2005, and previous to RFUMS she worked at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
 
 

 
 
Jennifer D. Smith 
Coordinator of Student Housing
 
 
Jennifer grew up on the south side of Chicago with a large extended family and plenty of people around to keep her entertained. She completed her BA in Business Management from North Central College in Naperville, IL and her MS in College Student Personnel from Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL. She has worked in Student Affairs for the past eight years at a number of local institutions; primarily in Residence Life, has also served as the Coordinator of Student Activities and the Coordinator of Staff Selection. She joined the RFUMS community in December, 2006 as the Coordinator of Student Housing. Being involved in the community is important to her. She is  the former Co-Chair of a Residence Life and Housing Organization
