Medical Students

Alpha Omega Alpha Student Essay Award: This scholarship encourages medical students to address general topics in medicine and enables Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society to recognize excellent and thoughtful student presentations in a tangible way. Essay topics may be on any non-technical aspect of medicine. Prizes are $2000 for first , $750 second, $500 third and up to three honorable mention awards of $250 each. Authors must be enrolled at medical schools with active Alpha Omega Alpha chapters but do not need to be members of the organization.

Pisacano Leadership Foundation Scholars Program: The Pisacano Scholars Leadership Program provides educational programs, leadership training and funding for outstanding 4th year medical students for a 4 year period. Students must make a commitment to the Family Practice specialty. The funding program is to help reimburse a portion of the medical school debt incurred by the students by the conclusion of their required 3 year residency. The maximum scholarship award is $28,000. Eligibility criteria include: students entering their 4th year of medical school, declaration of intent to specialize in Family Practice. Applicants will be judged on commitment to Family Practice specialty, leadership, academic performance, character, interpersonal skills, communication skills etc.

Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund (of the World Bank Family Network): Women who are citizens of a developing country who plan to return home following their studies may be eligible for scholarships from the Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund.
