Guidelines and Procedures
Building Security and Access:
Security The University is committed to providing an environment which provides personal safety for all university members and visitors. University security services provide for card access entry; issuing keys to only authorized individuals, effective lighting, security patrols, safety information, and intercoms on the hallway walls in the main campus and at the entry doors to the main campus, as well as monitoring emergency call stations in the parking lots and 911 calls placed from our campus. The effectiveness of all security also depends on all university members cooperation, to include: 1) office doors and other secured doors are not propped open; 2) keys and access cards not to be given to others; 3) all doors be locked at all times when not occupied, and; 4) suspicious persons observed in or around buildings should be reported to Campus Security immediately.
Access and Visitors Access to all buildings is gained using your ID card. DO NOT use any of the doors marked "Emergency Exit Only". These doors will send an alarm to the Security Station. All visitors are required to check in with Campus Security. Campus Security staff are stationed in the Main Lobby (8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday) and the North Auditorium Entrance (24 hours a day, 7 days a week). Visitors can also make contact with Security by using the intercoms located at other entrance doors. Visitors will need to present some form of identification and will be issued a vistor pass. Visitors who will be at the campus less than two hours may utilize the visitor parking spaces in front of the building. All visitors who will be at the University longer than two hours should park in either the North or South parking lots.
Security Cameras Surveillance cameras are in use at RFUMS. These cameras allow Security to view and record critical areas inside and outside the building.
Intercoms RFUMS is equipped with an intercom system, located on the walls of the hallways. There are 52 intercoms inside the building. The system is always active and can be used to connect with Security. There are also three emergency call boxes located outside (one each in the North and South lots and one by Student Housing). In addition, most entry doors have intercoms to connect with Security if your ID is not working.
