Remote Virtual Microscopy

Remote Access Instructions

Accessing the Virtual Microscopy application from locations outside of the Rosalind Franklin University campus network is a 3-step process. First you must connect to a proxy server by logging in using the credentials supplied by your instructor. Once you are logged in, double-click the Virtual Micro link to go to the Virtual Microscopy home page. Once at this page, accessing the virtual microscope is the same process you have used for lab assignments.

  • Please do not use the 3-panel browser from remote locations. The number of users that can access the virtual microscope at one time using the 3-panel browser is limited, so we wish to reserve this option for lab use only.
  • Also, remember that the remote response from the server will be slower than on campus.
Connection Process

  • STEP 2: Double click the VirtualMicro link (blue box).

  • You will now be on the home page for the Virtual Microscopy web server.
  • STEP 3: Select an access method and use the virtual microscope as you would in the lab.

Note: You can select either the ActiveX or JAVA based viewer from remote locations. As previously stated, please do not use the 3-panel browser when accessing the virtual microscope remotely.
