The University encourages the reporting of actual or potential violations of law, including self-reporting and seeking guidance. Such reporting leads to early detection and correction of problem situations, initiation of timely responsive actions, and minimization if not prevention of violations of law as well as the resultant harm.
The Whistleblower Protection Policy Statements are:
Those who, in good faith, make a report alleging noncompliance with the law and/or University policies shall not be the subject of reprisal, retaliation, or retribution for making that report.
Those who, in good faith, participate in the investigation or resolution process of an allegation of noncompliance with the law and/or University policy shall not be the subject of reprisal, retaliation, or retribution for such participation (e.g. providing information to an investigator).
Violation of the whistleblower protection policies could result in punitive sanctions, including termination.
These whistleblower protection policies do not excuse knowingly providing false information.
