Evanston Northwestern Healthcare - Glenview

Type: Child neuropsychological assessment

Setting: Outpatient facility - Dept. of Pediatrics, Evanston Northwestern Healthcare

Description of Practicum: Assessment of children ages 4 21 y/o with problems in school, behavioral problems, or social-emotional issues. In addition, practicum students may also have the opportunity to assist in sodium amytal evaluations of language and memory to determine cerebral dominance, assessment of response to medication for ADHD, and observe academic assessments by educational specialists. There is a $1500 stipend offered for travel costs.

Practicum Requirements: This is an advanced practicum for 3rd and 4th year students with prior training and coursework in neuropsychology. Commitment of ~ 20 hrs/week (2 days) is expected.

Supervision: Intensive supervision (in room) of all testing, scoring of all protocols, editing of all reports and supervisor present during all intakes, staffings, parent feedback and school conferences.

Supervisor(s): Jo-Ann Hoeppner, Ph.D. (Director) and Erika Wasserman, Ph.D.

Didactic Training Opportunities: Students may attend weekly neuropsychology rounds, neurology and psychiatry rounds at hospital. In addition, students may participate in an autism interest group.

Application Process: State intention in writing; submit curriculum vitae including prior coursework, and one letter of recommendation to Dr. Hoeppner.

Application Deadline: Usually by February 15th; interviews are typically held the following week
