Admission Information
Applications to the Clinical Counseling program are initially received and processed by the Graduate Admissions Office. When the application is complete (i.e., all required application materials are on file), it is sent to the Graduate Admissions Committee for review. If found acceptable by the Graduate Admissions Committee, applications are then forwarded to the Psychology Department for further consideration. You should receive notification from the Admissions Office once your application has been received informing you of any missing application materials. If you have any questions about the status of your application in terms of its completeness, please feel free to contact the Graduate Admissions Office, (847) 578-3209; or via e-mail at grad.admissions@rosalindfranklin.edu. You may also contact Dr. Kenneth Kessler, the program director, at (847) 578-8740 or kenneth.kessler@rosalindfranklin.edu. After review of prospective applicants, the department will invite some applicants for an interview. The interview days for applicants to the M.S. program will occur on a rolling basis.
Our Department recognizes the importance of cultural and individual differences and is receptive to, and supportive of diversity at a variety of levels in the program including recruitment, curriculum, and the overall climate of learning. We are committed to addressing issues of multiculturalism and enhancing diversity training within the program to meet the needs of our students. In addition, the University has an Office of Student Development.
Requirements for Admission
It should be noted that each application is reviewed in terms of strengths and compatibility with the program. The final decision is based on the overall profile rather than any particular piece of information. Official notice of acceptance is issued from the Office of the Dean of the Graduate School.
Based on an initial review and screening of the application, a designated group of applicants will be invited to visit the Department and meet faculty and students as well as learn more about the program and University. Interview days will be held on a rolling basis. For those applicants who are unable to attend in person, a phone interview with a faculty member can be arranged. These arrangements should be coordinated through the Department of Psychology, Administrative Assistant, Ms. Pat Rigwood (847) 578-3305. All students to be accepted into the program are expected to either have visited the Department or have a phone-call interview with a member of the faculty.
Clinical Counseling Program application deadlines for the academic year starting in August are February 15 (early consideration) and April 1 (routine consideration) of that year. The final deadline could be extended if the class has openings. Applications received after the deadline are considered on a space available basis. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all application materials have been postmarked by the deadline date. Inquires about the completeness of an application can be directed to Office of Graduate Admissions at (847) 578-3209 or email to grad.admissions@rosalindfranklin.edu.
