The Associate Dean for Student Affairs in the College of Health Professions provides planning, leadership, direction and review of student development for the variety of professional training programs housed in the College of Health Professions.  The role of student affairs is to support, complement and enhance the University’s mission by providing students with programs, activities and assistance that contribute to their personal, academic and professional development and well-being. The Associate Dean has a direct reporting relationship to the Dean of the College and works closely with the Division of Student Affairs at the University and with student affairs leadership in the other Schools and Colleges in the University to provide services which are student-centered, inclusive and innovative for all students in the College.

Resources include:

  • Support the development of a safe, secure and healthful environment by participation in Wellness activities for the University.
  • Provide facilitation for the process of assessment, identification, guidance and mentoring for students who are at risk in any program.
  • Act as an advocate for students who are identified as being in academic jeopardy and assist them in development for the best plan for future academic success
  • Work collaboratively with a variety of student services to support a diverse student population.
  • Coordinate the development, implementation and evaluation of student policies and procedures at the program, college and university levels.
  •  Participate in health and wellness services and programs including Crisis Management, Disability Services and Accommodations, University Counseling Center, Student Mental Health Center, Student Health Services to ensure access for the students of the college
  • Facilitate students’ access to services as needed
  • Coordinate student leadership and activities programs which enhance interprofessional relationships
  • Orient students to campus life
  • Coordinate student honor and award ceremonies
  • Oversee recruitment activities for the college
  • Advocate for students in distance learning programs
