Dr. Gall became Chair of the Department in 1994, coming from the University of Arizona where he was on the faculty for 21 years. He is a Rheumatologist and was Director of the University of Arizona Arthritis Center.
Dr. Gall is a member of the Division of Rheumatology and practices at the University Clinics of The Chicago Medical School.
Dr. Gall graduated in 1962 from the University of Pennsylvania receiving his AB Degree and in 1966 he received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the same University. In 1967 he completed his internship in internal medicine at the University of Cincinnati with his senior residency completed in 1971 from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed a three-year fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of Pennsylvania in 1973. He served as a Preventive Medicine Officer in the US Army, including time in the Republic of Vietnam from 1968-70.
Dr. Gall is Councillor of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society Delta Chapter of The Chicago Medical School and Regional Councillor of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society covering the states of Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa.
Dr. Gall is active in a number of professional societies, locally, regionally, and nationally. He is interested in studies of new treatments of arthritis, metabolic bone disease, and hemophilic arthritis. He is widely written on, and is an advocate of, innovative teaching methods and is active on many committees addressing teaching methods and curricula at the Medical School and within the specialty of rheumatology.
The American College of Physician recently honored Dr. Gall as “Master” at their Annual Spring Session in San Francisco on April 16th 2005. He was recognized by the American College of Physicians for being a “eminent rheumatologist, internist and educator” They also recognized him for his leadership in establishing and arthritis center during his tenure at University of Arizona, his role in serving as Lake County Medical Society as President, his dedication for continuous learning and striving towards excellence.
