How to Apply

Applications for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at The Chicago Medical School/Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science (CMS/RFUMS) are being accepted through the ERAS electronic application process. CMS/RFUMS is a member of the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) for the three-year categorical program.

 

Upon review of your ERAS submitted application you will receive notification informing you if an interview has been granted. For further information you can contact us electronically at Joy.Smith@rosalindfranklin.edu and you can find us on our web site. 

 

Minimum Criteria for Internal Medicine Residency at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science 

  1. Applications are only accepted through ERAS; no paper applications are accepted.
  2. The end of December is the deadline for submitting your application but applications after the end of November may not be processed.
  3. You must have graduated from medical school within the last five years. In order to receive an Illinois Temporary License, the state of Illinois requires that you have not been out of school for more than 2 years. If you have been out of school longer than two years, you must prove that you have taken continuing medical education classes in order to obtain an Illinois Temporary License.
  4. For International Medical Graduates, US clinical experience is useful but not essential.
  5. The minimum 2-digit passing score for both USMLE (or COMLEX) step 1 and step 2 is 85. International Medical Graduates must have passed step 2 CS; preference is given to those who passed on the first attempt.
  6. Only J1 Visas will be offered.
  7. Interview dates are scheduled during November, December, and January.
