Kenneth Neet, M.D.
Dr. Kenneth E. Neet received his B.S. in Chemistry in 1958, the M.S. in 1960 and the Ph.D. (with Dr. Frank W. Putnam) in Biochemistry in 1965, all from the University of Florida. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Berkeley (with Dr. Daniel E. Koshland, Jr.), and joined the faculty of Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) in 1967 as an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry.
Dr. Neet received a Faculty Research Award of the American Cancer Society from 1968 to 1973 and was on sabbatical leave at the National Institute for Medical Research, Mill Hill, England (with Dr. N. Michael Green) 1973-1974. From 1978 to 1990, he was Professor of Biochemistry and concurrently Professor of General Medical Sciences (Oncology, 1987-1990) at CWRU. During 1980-1981, he took a sabbatical year as a Josiah Macy Faculty Scholar in the Department of Neurobiology, Stanford University (with Dr. Eric M. Shooter).
Dr. Neet moved to Finch University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School as Professor and Chair of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology in 1990. In 2004 the University was renamed as Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. Dr. Neet assumed the duties of Associate Dean for Research of Chicago Medical School, RFUMS in the same year.
Dr. Neet has served on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Biological Chemistry, Protein Science, and Molecular & Cellular Proteomics and as a member of study sections for the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation.
He is currently an Associate Editor of the Journal of Biological Chemistry and Treasurer of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB).
