To accommodate the research activity of the Executive Director and Center faculty, The University plans to renovate approximately 15,000 square feet of existing space on the main floor of Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. The newly renovated space will house new research laboratories, investigator offices, administrative offices, a lobby, conference room, break room, and a seminar room. The Center will also provide shared resource facilities for common research needs including autoclaves, an ice machine, cold rooms, water purification system, general analytical equipment (for example, gel documentation, microtiter plate reader, etc.), and a cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) facility. The GMP facility will include two cell process rooms with the appropriate clean corridor and gown/degown air lock, a material transfer room, and a material storage space. The creation of this facility is a fundamental requirement for the movement of basic research into clinical trials and will provide a rare and valuable resource to regional investigators, allowing Center investigators to collaborate with a wide range of scientific and clinical partners.
