Energy and Atmosphere

Energy is used to heat and cool our buildings. HVAC-R systems can be manipulated or modernized to provide substantial reductions in overall energy usage. Additionally, it may be possible to fuel our operations with renewable energy sources. Upgrading building systems from manual to automated operation wherever possible can contribute to substantial energy savings.

Objectives:

Implement energy-efficiency retrofits and energy-saving techniques to reduce energy use by:

• enhancing building automation controls to conserve on HVAC-R;
• installing occupancy sensors for lighting controls;
• de-lamping in over lit areas or where natural daylight can be utilized;
• utilizing the Energy Saver feature on electronics.

Pursue the option to purchase renewable energy or renewable energy tradable certificates to meet some or all of the building’s energy requirements.
