IN THE SOPHOMORE YEAR
SOPHOMORE PATHOLOGY COURSE
- is required of all students
- is designed to provide a suitable background in pathology for further studies in medicine, to bridge the basic science and clinical disciplines, and to provide a vocabulary of disease as well as a basic understanding of the responses of cells and organ systems to disease processes
- is also designed to provide knowledge of the principal disorders of each organ system and to facilitate a reasoned approach to the use of diagnostic laboratory testing
MPAT 601 PATHOLOGY HONORS ELECTIVE
- is offered to students during the second and third quarters of the regular sophomore pathology course
- consists of a group of hospital experiences which supplement the regular laboratory sessions of the course
- provides an enhanced opportunity to integrate the learning of pathology with its application to the practice of medicine
SPECIAL PATHOLOGY STUDY GROUP
- is open to all interested students enrolled in the regular sophomore pathology course
- is conducted on-site at CMS
- consists of a series of microscopic slide review sessions led by one of our hospital-based faculty
IN THE SENIOR YEAR
ELECTIVE CLERKSHIPS IN PATHOLOGY
- open to all students
- provide an in-depth exposure to the practice of pathology as a medical specialty
ELECTIVE FORENSIC PATHOLOGY CLERKSHIP
- provides an in-depth exposure to the practice of pathology in the investigation of death from trauma and maladventure
