Available by appointment Phone 1.847.578.8723 The Rosalind Franklin University Student Counseling Service assists students with concerns that affect their ability to participate fully and to perform optimally in their educational and professional learning experiences. As a part of the Division of Student Affairs, we are committed to promoting a healthy life balance for healthcare and biomedical sciences students who juggle multiple and sometimes conflicting roles and responsibilities. Along with Student Health, we seek to foster healthy bodies and healthy, active minds. We deliver brief- and solution-focused counseling and therapy to enrolled students during all phases of their professional education and training. Counseling services and psychiatric consultation are provided free of charge to students. All records of the identity of recipients and delivery of services remains confidential, except when the student gives written consent. At no time during the student’s clinical experience is the student involved with therapy or psychiatric trainees at any time. An integral part of the experience of every student requesting counseling and psychiatric services is an initial consultation conducted by an experienced licensed clinical psychologist. At the time of that initial assessment, the psychologist-therapist determines with the student what course of counseling will be useful in addressing the presenting problem, and may discuss whether or not psychiatric consultation and medication will be necessary and/or desirable. We refer students to a psychiatric consultant in independent, off-campus practice. If it is determined that the service request or nature of the presenting problem cannot be addressed within our scope of care as a university-based, brief- and solution-focused therapy service, we will work with the student to locate appropriate resources in the community UNRAVELING PROBLEMS, DISCOVERING SOLUTIONS
