2010 Schedule

January 15, 8:00-10:00 am, HSB 1.702, Erica Nelson, LFGSM Faculty
Resilience and Resources: Listening to Our Self
Our seminar this month welcomes a new year and a look at the capacity that we have to apply our own resources – our networks – internally and externally. Ms. Nelson will discuss what fills our life and how our work can reinforce our ability to be resilient in difficult periods.   Look for this discussion to be practical, eye-opening and a great way to chart your course for a new year at RFUMS.
February 19, 9:00-10:00 am, HSB 1.702, Margot Surridge, EVP/COO
What Gives You Energy - What Drains Your Energy

March 19, 8:00-10:00 am, HSB 1.702, Donna Steffey, LFGSM Faculty
Creating Communication Messages That Get Through
In this exploration of communication Ms. Steffey will challenge you to redefine your assumptions about listening, message development, and the psychology of influence. Through interactive activities you will learn the importance of really “attending” during conversations, how your own perceptions cloud your listening, and what you need to add to your messages to get heard through all the information clutter out there. You can get heard!
April 23, 9:00-10:00 am, HSB 1.702, Margot Surridge, EVP/COO
 Review of March presentation

May 21, 8:00-10:00 am, HSB 1.706, Pat Marshall, LFGSM Faculty
 Understanding My Strengths
The title of this month's seminar is "Understanding and Using My Strengths".  Sometimes in our work environment today, we can get fixated on weaknesses, what we're not good at, versus our strengths and how to develop and use them for optimal performance.  In this thought-provoking presentation, Patricia Moten Marshall, from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, will bring our attention back to our strengths and share with you some strategies for leveraging those strengths here at RFU.

 Creative Interchange at Work
This session explores "Creative Interchange", the process that helps us perform to our highest potential in the work environment. “The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.”  We have all heard this statement. However, many of us have yet to see it consistently demonstrated in the workplace.  Operating synergistically is the highest level of "team work". But what does it take to achieve this level of working together?
October 15, 8:30-10:00 am, HSB 1.702, Donna Steffey, LFGSM Faculty
  The Power of Personal Accountability
This is a workshop that enables leaders - at all levels – to practice personal accountability by making better choices in the moment. Better choices will result in a better attitude among team members and ultimately, better performance. Personal Accountability is defined as: The willingness to claim 100% ownership for the results provided as a consequence of your involvement, both individually and collectively with others.  Through a highly engaging and interactive program, you will learn how to eliminate blame, complaining and procrastination, allowing your team to enhance communication and solve problems.
November 12, 8:30-10:00 am, HSB 1.702, Erica Nelson, LFGSM Faculty
  Managing Your Career
How do we manage our own career when influences outside of our control can make it seem impossible? Being satisfied in our work means putting thought into managing the series of positions that make up our career. We’ll review and look at 5 real time applications for improving the management of your career.
