Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science Honor Council Among the main goals of Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science (RFUMS) is the promotion of a sense of ethics amongst its future graduates. As future health professionals preparing for a career of service to others, we believe it is vital to nurture the highest standards of ethics from the earliest stage of health science education. The RFUMS Honor Council supports and abides by an Honor Constitution in the belief it will provide guidance for the development of responsible, self-regulation of present and future behavior. The RFUMS Honor Council promotes community spirit conducive to mutual trust among students. This is absolutely necessary in a profession where the fates of lives are determined on a regular basis. In the health and life sciences community, one earns his/her professed knowledge, ones word is taken as truth, and ones integrity should be beyond question. To achieve and maintain these goals, students are obliged to support the spirit and letter of the Honor Constitution as embodied in its Statement of Purpose: As members of the health care profession, we will not compromise our integrity through unethical behavior. In addition, our Honor Constitution requires every student acknowledge his/her responsibility to the Honor Code by reporting violations of it to the Honor Council. Initiation of a claim of violation of the Honor Code (e.g., academic dishonesty or unprofessional behavior) by an RFUMS individual is as follows: All claims must be self-initiated, that is, a claim is initiated when a student voluntarily comes forward. Students may come forward to make claim by the following means: 1) Confidential contact via Honor Council mailbox or email 2) Confidential personal contact with any Honor Council representative Claims may be also be initiated by referral from the Office of Student Development (OSD) or any other school administration. Anonymous contact via the Honor Council website is welcome for suggestions and comments on academic environment.
