Recontracting Process

Current residents will have the opportunity to renew for their Student Housing Contract for the upcoming academic year between February-March.  Residents will receive Recontracting packets, via email, at the end of January.  These packets will include Preference Forms that, given the desire to recontract, the residents can:

  • indicate their wish to remain in their current apartment
  • move to a different kind of apartment
  • or choose to live with a new roommate

All Student Housing residents must return Recontracting paperwork - no matter their choice to renew their Student Housing Contract or not.  All applicable documents (including the applicable and non-refundable $250 prepayment) must be returned to our office by March 2, 2012 at 2p.

Want to Remain in Your Apartment?
Residents choosing to remain in their current apartment will be given priority for that assignment if they return the proper documents by the specified deadline.

Want to Change Apartments?
Apartment change requests will be considered on a first-come, first served basis-according to the date/time your paperwork was returned to Student Housing. The number of apartments available for this purpose is limited, so all requests cannot be granted.

Residents wishing to change apartments should indicate their desire on their Preference Form and should also indicate their reason for the request.

Residents choosing to change apartment assignment will be permitted to select their new assignment based on contract number during the week of March 19, 2012.  Contract numbers are assigned based on the date and time that the returning resident turns in their completed paperwork.  Student Housing will provide a list of apartments designated for apartment change-residents may only choose from the provided list.

Please Note
Returning residents are given priority in the apartment assignment process.  Any returning resident wishing to be assigned to a two bedroom apartment with an incoming student may request a particular assignment, but will not be afforded priority preference.  New residents are not granted Student Housing Contracts until after the returning residents have been assigned.  Any returning resident in this situation must request an alternate assignment in case their first choice cannot be granted.
