Prevention of disease and/or complications.
Evaluate diseases cost effectively with appropriate laboratory procedures (i.e., EMG, P.E.T. scan, M.R.I.) and evaluate quality of life by questions as to deficits in performing activities in daily living.
Treat cost effectively with medical care. Team approach as needed with social work, physical therapy, occupational therapy, psychologists, vocational counselors, speach and hearing therapy, orthotic and prosthetic assistants.
Educate patient and family to develop joint short term and longer term goal (i.e., Rx of acute condition, enhance selfcare, arrange for residence, vocation or avocational goals).
Restore psycho-social, physical and vocational functions.
Support group referrals for financial, social, educational help.
Online informational resources for patients, families and physicians as to clinical entity and new research.
Never neglect patients, encourage continued contact and never lie to or for patients.
