Dr. Imad Almanaseer received his MD degree from the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad, Iraq. After coming to the United States, he completed a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. He has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Pathology in anatomic pathology and clinical pathology since 1985 and has held American Board of Pathology Special Certification in hematology since 1999.
He has practiced pathology at Lutheran General Hospital since 1985 and became chairman of pathology in 2000. Dr. Almanaseer has been a Clinical Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of Illinois at Chicago since 1998.
Currently, he is the president of Midwest Diagnostic Pathology and serves on the Joint Management Team of ACL Laboratories as ACL's medical director for Illinois operations.
Dr. John Anastos is chairman of the department of radiology at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. Also, he serves as president of Advanced Radiology Consultants and Advanced Radiology Professionals. He is a consultant to Advocate Health Care and other organizations in the assessment of new and emerging technologies in medical imaging. His areas of expertise are cardiovascular CT and MRI and breast imaging and intervention.
Dr. Anastos earned his undergraduate degree from Loyola University, his graduate degree from Northwestern University in biological anthropology and his DO from Chicago Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Illinois Masonic Medical Center where Dr. Anastos was named chief resident.
Dr. Daniel J. Anzia has been the chairman of the department of psychiatry at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital since 1993. A 1973 graduate of Stanford University School of Medicine, he completed his residency in psychiatry at Loyola University, and is certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Anzia served Lutheran General Hospital as director of inpatient psychiatry and as residency director before becoming chairman. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois.
Dr. Anzia is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association in which he is a member of the Assembly Executive Committee and assembly liaison to the Steering Committee on Practice Guidelines. He is a past president of the Illinois Psychiatric Society.
Dr. Mary Kay Bissing, anesthesiologist, serves as the chair of the department of anesthesiology and perioperative medicine at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.
She earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb and her medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her internship at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, a residency in anesthesia and a fellowship in cardiac/pediatric anesthesia at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago where Dr. Bissing was named chief resident.
At Lutheran General, Dr. Bissing has served in multiple capacities including a key member the Operating Room Executive Committee, Medical Staff Credentialing Committee, Medical Staff Executive Committee and Physician Leadership Forum.
In her private practice, she has served as president of Park Ridge Health Associates and Park Ridge Anesthesiology Associates.
Dr. Wayne Goldstein founded the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute and expanded this orthopaedic and rheumatology practice at multiple sites. He graduated from University of Illinois at Chicago and Harvard University to complete a fellowship in hip and knee reconstruction in 1983 and also mentors students as Clinical Professor of Orthopaedics. In January 2011, he became chairman of orthopaedic surgery at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. He has an extensive history of research, surgical innovations, publications and presentations along with implant and device patents, and implant design team participation. He is an oral xxaminer with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a member of the Journal of Arthroplasty Editorial Board. His achievements are highlighted in the media, including a WTTW Chicago Tonight segment on his charitable work for an African physician.
Dr. Judi Gravdal is the Morris M. Goldberg, MD Chair of Family Medicine and Program Director at Advocate Luther General Hospital's Family Medicine Residency. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of St. Olaf College, she received her MD degree from the University of South Dakota where she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha. Following residency in Rockford, IL, she was on faculty at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford for several years prior to joining the Lutheran General Hospital's Family Medicine Residency. She was named program director in 2004 and department chair in 2006. Her scholarly interests include the patient experience in medical education and health care, medical education, and family violence. She brings prior experience as academic chair at Rosalind Franklin University's Chicago Medical School to this new collaboration.
Dr. James Keller attended medical school at Michigan State University. After residency at Sinai Hospital of Detroit, he completed a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Northwestern University Medical School.
Dr. Keller was the residency program director for the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. He has been the director of maternal and fetal medicine at Illinois Masonic Hospital, Christ Medical Center ,and Lutheran General Hospital. Presently, he serves as the chairman of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital and as the medical director for maternal-fetal medicine for the Advocate Medical Group.
His role as an educator has been recognized with outstanding faculty awards from both the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics and the Council on Residency Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology
Douglas A. Propp, MD, MS, FACEP, FACPE, serves as chairman and medical director of emergency medicine at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, a Level I trauma center. Dr. Propp completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois- Urbana, a medical degree at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, and Master of Science in Administrative Medicine from the University of Wisconsin- Madison. He completed his internship at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and a residency in emergency medicine at University of Illinois Affiliated Hospitals, ultimately serving as chief resident. Dr. William Rhoades has been on Advocate Lutheran General's medical staff since 1995 and was appointed the chairman of the department of medicine in 2009. He has held multiple leadership roles at Lutheran General and Advocate Medical Group, including bioethics committee chairman; a member of the Lutheran General's pain and palliative care committee; co-leader of Advocate's DNR/LET task force; chief of the geriatrics division; program director of the Geriatrics Fellowship; and member of Advocate Medical Group's governing council. Dr. Rhoades is also a Clinical Associate Professor at the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University.
Dr. Rhoades received his medical education at Des Moines University, College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Lutheran General Hospital and Geriatric Fellowship training at Duke University Medical Center.
Dr. David N. Sheftel, neonatologist, serves as chair of the department of pediatrics and director of the division of neonatology and pediatric hospitalists at Advocate Lutheran General Children's Hospital. In addition, he is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Rosalind Franklin University's Chicago Medical School. He has held numerous leadership positions at Lutheran General, including co-director of Lutheran's Perinatal Network and director of the Neonatology Fellowship Program.
Dr. Sheftel earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, and medical degree from the University of Kansas, School of Medicine in Kansas City. He completed an internship and residency in pediatrics at the University of Chicago and a fellowship in neonatology at University of Wisconsin- Madison.
He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine. Dr. Sheftel is in advanced standing with the American College of Physician Executives. Dr. Sheftel is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and Neonatal Perinatal Medicine.
Dr. John White is chairman of the department of surgery of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. After receiving his MD from Columbia University, Dr. White served his surgical residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and his vascular fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He then joined the department of surgery at Temple University where he became professor of surgery and director of surgical research. In 1999, he assumed the chair of surgery at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. Dr. White continues to be involved in the active practice of vascular surgery and surgical research, with special interests in aortic aneurysms, surgical safety, healthcare delivery, and healthcare guidelines. He has published more than 100 manuscripts, 50 textbook chapters, and edited six books and continues to work as a consultant for the National Science Foundation.
