Clinical Pharmacology > The Paul Calabresi Medical Student Research Fellowship Program
The fellowship is offered to medical or dental students who have substantial interests in research and teaching careers in clinical pharmacology and who are willing to spend fulltime in a specific research effort within a pharmacology or clinical pharmacology unit. Fellowships are available for a minimum period of six months up to 24 months with a maximum stipend of $18,000. The student may undertake this investigative effort at their own school or at another institution.

The purpose of the Summer Research Program for Medical Students is to provide participants with firsthand biomedical research experience in the basic or clinical sciences. Student projects will reflect the ongoing research efforts of the institution's clinics and laboratories. Individuals will actively participate in both the technical aspects of their projects and the interpretation of experimental data. Program trainees will be afforded the opportunity to acquire research skills and, through participation in institutional seminars and lectures, receive information that will be valuable in assessing their career goals related to research and patient care in oncology.

Summer Oncology Fellowship- Children’s Hospital Los Angeles-Univ Southern California
This program is intended to provide the highest quality experience for first-year medical school students pursuing interests in oncology research. The program is designed for students who have completed their first year of medical school. Faculty mentors are located both at Children's Hospital Los Angeles and at the USC Keck School of Medicine. Students actively participate in clinical or laboratory research studies during their fellowship, and some have authored or co-authored peer reviewed publications as well as presented their work at major national and international scientific meetings. The students are paid a weekly stipend of $300 for a minimum of six weeks or maximum of ten weeks. Students will be expected to attend a lecture series held at the hospital on aspects of pediatric oncology designed specifically for them and will be encouraged to attend other scientific lectures in their area of research. The fellow's project should have a well-defined objective, as he/she will need to give a brief written and oral presentation at the end of the summer and could result in a scientific abstract and/or publication.

The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins
A summer fellowship for medical students entitled “Cancer in the Under-Privileged, Indigent or Disadvantaged” (CUPID). CUPID is a unique program that is designed to address the chronic problem of persistent cancer health disparities. The CUPID program is a 7 week summer fellowship for medical students who have demonstrated interest in caring for underserved populations and who are exploring careers in oncology. The summer fellows will receive a $5,000 stipend, free housing and a free gym membership for the summer.

(5 R25CA023944-28)The program offers an opportunity for pre-doctoral students preparing for careers in the biomedical sciences, medicine, and pharmacy to gain biomedical and oncology research experience. Students participate in
basic or clinical oncology research, research and clinical conferences, and a core lecture series designed
 specifically for them. For highly qualified students with a serious career interest in cancer research. POEs must be
US citizens, non-citizen nationals, or permanent resident of US. Nine week program.

Vanderbilt School of Medicine invites applications for the Medical Student Research and Training Program in Nephrology and Hypertension for the summer of 2012. This program provides an opportunity for medical students to conduct
research under the direction of an established Vanderbilt scientist in the area of Nephrology and/or Hypertension
during the summer between the first and second year, or the second and third year of medical school. Prior research experience is not required. The program provides a stipend. We are inviting applications for the summer of 2012.

NIDDK and allows medical students to conduct research under the direction of an established scientist in the areas
of diabetes, hormone action, physiology, islet cell biology or obesity at an institution with one of 17 NIDDK-funded
Diabetes and Endocrinology Research Centers (DERC) or Diabetes Research and Training Centers (DRTC) during the summer between the first and second year or second and third year of medical school.
