Entry into the thesis option is selective and competitive. Students interested in the thesis option submit a Student Petition to the Department of Nutrition Academic Progress Committee for admission after completion of required coursework. The committee will review student performance as assessed by course grades and instructor feedback. In addition, student writing skills will be assessed. Choosing the thesis option will add at least one year to your program of study, so it is important to understand that this is a significant time commitment and that it will require demonstration of outstanding self-motivation, goal orientation and ability to work independently. This option is designed for those planning to pursue a PhD degree.
