Proficiency in written and verbal English is required. A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) examination is required of all foreign applicants from countries in which English is not the native language and who have not attended an American college or university for two consecutive years. It is the applicant's responsibility to provide an official report of the TOEFL. GRE/MCAT scores are not required. If tests have been taken, scores are not considered in the application review process. (Essential functions necessary to satisfy program requirements) U.S. Bachelor’s Degree Equivalent Policy The Pathologists’ Assistant Program requires that applicants to the program complete a baccalaureate-level degree (BA/BS) prior to matriculation into the program. For applicants with foreign credentials to be eligible for program consideration, the program will rely on the judgment of reputable credential evaluation agencies such as WES and ECE to determine baccalaureate degree equivalency for academic credentials earned outside of the United States. The credentialing agency must state that the candidate holds the “equivalent of a U.S. baccalaureate degree.” For purposes of eligibility, credential equivalencies that are returned as “equivalent to a first professional degree” or “equivalent to ‘X’ number of years of undergraduate training” are considered to be non-equivalent, and the candidate ineligible for the program. One exception to this rule exists, in that foreign applicants who have received a foreign professional degree (e.g. M.D.) and have ASCP – certification in a laboratory discipline and have practiced that discipline for no less than one year; the baccalaureate degree requirement may be waived. Permission is granted to the Admissions Office to counsel potential applicants regarding this position and to withdraw any applications arriving with lack of baccalaureate equivalent credentials. Application Deadline Applications are reviewed as they are received. Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their completed application in the Summer/Fall of the year preceding their anticipated start of the program. Completed application packets must be received no later than February 28 of the year for which you are applying.
