Dr. Cathy Lazarus is currently Senior Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Medical Education, Professor of Medicine and Division Chief in General Internal Medicine at Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. Her professional interests include medical education, medical ethics, communication, professional development, end of life care and women’s health. She has received several national education grants and is the author of numerous publications and presentations in these areas. She currently serves on the USMLE Step I oversight committee for the National Board of Medical Examiners and is Chair, Gold Humanism in Medicine Honor Society National Advisory Council. Dr. Lazarus is the immediate past Chair of the Generalists in Medical Education Steering Committee.
Dr. Lazarus is a native of St. Louis MO. She attended college at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI and received her MD degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, where she also completed her internship and residency in internal medicine. She held a variety of faculty and professional positions at Washington University including Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Director of the Student and Employee Health Services.
From 1994-2005, she was Professor of Medicine, Adjunct Professor of Community Health Sciences in the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, and Director of the Foundations in Medicine Program at Tulane University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisian
