Two strong unifying activities in the IGPBS are the MCS Seminar Series and the Department Seminar Series. The MCS Seminars bring in a series of distinguished scientists from all biomedical fields, including several Nobel Laureates. This seminar series is supported in part by donations from Abbott Laboratories. One seminar each year commemorates Dr. Werner Straus for his fundamental contributions to cell biology. Message from the Dean Welcome to the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (SGPS) at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. SGPS was established to provide a cutting-edge graduate level education in the biomedical sciences. The educational programs in SGPS are designed to provide students with the breadth of knowledge to graduate as highly competitive biomedical scientists for the 21st Century. With this goal in mind, SGPS has established a variety of programs to meet the needs of our students. These programs include: 1) a newly revised newly revised clinician/scientist programs leading to the MD/Ph.D or the DPM/Ph.D., and 2) the creation of a completely new Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in the Biomedical Sciences (IGPBS) leading to the Ph.D. in the basic sciences that provides students with opportunities in a broad spectrum of research areas from the atomic level to the level of the human mind.
