Core Courses (Year 1)

Molecular Cell Biology I.
(Lectures of MCB with paper discussions and separate short answer/essay tests. Format of questions is facts and problem solving.)

Molecular Cell Biology II
(Lectures and paper discussions. Introduction to techniques at end of course. Testing is short answer and essay.)
Systems Lectures:
Taking a disease from the gene to a physiological dysfunctional state.
Topics:
1. Cystic Fibrosis
2. Cancer
3. HIV
4. Neuro-Degenerative diseases

Elective Courses:
1. Neuroscience
2. Molecular and Cellular Developmental Biology
(Both Prok. and Euk. systems) with advanced molecular biology as underlying mechanisms during development.
3. Physiology
(Lectures and paper discussions. Testing is short answer and essay.)

Research with student selected mentor.
During Quarters 1-4 , the following specialty courses will also be taught:

  1. Course on techniques for presenting scientific talks.
  2. Ethics
