Viki Barr. Pharm D., BCPS, Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice, joined the department in July 2013. Dr. Barr obtained her doctor of pharmacy degree from Drake University in 2008. She started her career with a general post graduate year residency at Parkview Medical Center in Fort Wayne, IN. She then took a job at Mount Sinai Medical Center as a clinical pharmacist for nine months and in the fall of 2010 left to complete her Infectious Diseases specialty residency at the Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, MI. Once she completed her specialty residency she spent two years at Alexian Brothers Health System as the Infectious Diseases Pharmacists starting the antimicrobial stewardship program for the system.
Along with her role as a clinical faculty at the COP, Dr. Barr is an Infectious Diseases Pharmacist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in downtown Chicago. Her areas of interest include gram-negative resistance, de-escalation therapy, pharmacokinetics of antimicrobials, HIV, and antimicrobial stewardship. Dr. Barr currently precepts students from multiple schools on her elective infectious diseases rotation at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
