Biography

Dr. Melissa Brown is a Lecturer in the Department of Nutrition at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. She has taught online courses in the department since 2007. Currently, she is working toward her Master Online Teacher Certificate from the University of Illinois, Illinois Online Network. Melissa completed her Doctorate in the Nutritional Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2004. Dr. Brown is also a Registered Dietitian with a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Nutrition and earned her combined MS/RD from Rush University in Chicago in 1997. Before teaching at the University, Dr. Brown has worked as an ICU dietitian and owned her own private practice in the Chicago area.   Currently, Dr. Brown focuses on pancreatic islet transplantation research for the treatment of type 1 diabetes and teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
