Marc Feder, DPM '77

Dr. Marc Feder, DPM, Class of 1977, served his alma mater as president of the Alumni Association Board of Directors from 2003 to 2005, shortly after Scholl College’s historic merger with Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. He has treated patients for 36 years at Affiliated Podiatrists, a practice he shares with his brother, Dr. Joel Feder, in Portage Park and Chicago.

A James Scholar at the University of Illinois where he earned a BA in psychology in 1973, Dr. Feder graduated from Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine in 1977 which bestowed upon him the Charles L. Jones Award for outstanding professional conduct. In 1978, he underwent a surgical residency at St. Bernard College, Chicago.

He completed fellowships with the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, Academy of Ambulatory Foot Surgery, American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine and the American Association of Hospital Podiatrists. He in turn has trained a new generation of practitioners through residency programs at NorthShore University HealthCare System, Skokie Hospital, Weiss Memorial Hospital, Chicago, Scholl College, and as associate clinical instructor at the University of Chicago. He serves as attending physician at Weiss and is also affiliated with NorthShore, Skokie Hospital, Skokie, and St Francis Hospital, Evanston.
Dr. Feder is board certified in podiatric surgery, podiatric orthopedics and podiatric medicine. He has embraced new technologies including PinPointe laser for fungal nails, PadNet to detect blockages, and computerized gait analysis. He also maintains a keen interest in nutrition and other integrative medicine approaches.

A seasoned lecturer on numerous topics including “Interdisciplinary Care of the Diabetic,” “Educating the Primary Care Physician” and “Advantages of Being a Medicare Participating Provider,” Dr. Feder has also authored professional articles, contributed to research and served as a consultant for PodiatryTV and

He served on the board of the Foundation for Podiatric Education and is a member of the Physician Clinical Informatics Committee for Weiss Hospital. A former president of the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics, he also served as its examinations chairman. He is former board chairman and president of the Lincolnwood Jewish Congregation and has taken on numerous other leadership roles for medical and community organizations including the Illinois Podiatric Medical Association, American Podiatric Medical Association, and Consolidated Traditional Hebrew Schools. He is a founding fellow of the American Professional Wound Care Association and is also a member of Scholl College’s Stickel Society.

Married for 37 years to his wife, Eileen, Dr. Feder is the father of two sons and has a granddaughter.
