Dr. Lu received her medical degree and a master’s degree in immunology from Shanghai Medical University in Shanghai, China. She also holds a PhD in microbiology & immunology from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI.
Dr. Lu graduated from the Psychiatry Residency program at the Chicago Medical School, and she completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL.

Additional Information: Dr. Sarma has a long-time interest in child development and in the evaluation and treatment of various problems in children, including attention deficits,learning problems, mood disturbances and other emotional and behavioral issues that cause significant stresses for parents. He has treated hundreds of children and has taught hundreds of medical students and doctors to evaluate and treat children.
He serves as a medical consultant to school systems and to organizations like Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD). His publications are in the areas of mixed-handedness in children and in psychiatric assessment and treatment of children.

Dr. Ventrelle has more than 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults. He is licensed by the state of Illinois to provide individual, couples and family therapy. Dr. Ventrelle specializes in psychological evaluation for issues such as ADHD, developmental disabilities,and educational functioning.
Dr. Ventrelle has practiced in a variety of settings including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment centers, outpatient practices, and community mental health centers. Dr. Ventrelle wrote his doctoral dissertation on the Etiology and Treatment of Delinquency and Aggression in Adolescent Males.

Dr. Julie Atkins Waites joined the Rosalind Franklin University Health System in 2010. Dr. Waites received her doctoral degree from the APA-accredited Clinical Psychology program at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Waites completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at the Counseling and Student Development Center of Northern Illinois University and her post-doctoral fellowship with the Health and Psychological Services Center at William Rainy Harper College. Dr. Waites focused her training and past experience on working with a young adult population in various college and university settings.
Her current work at Rosalind Franklin University Health System includes administrative responsibility for clinical operations at the Student Counseling Service as well as the provision of individual psychological services and crisis intervention to students;outreach programming; and consultation services to the University community.
Her areas of expertise include grief, loss and transition related concerns in addition to developmental, identity and relational concerns for young adults. Dr. Waites is particularly interested in crisis response due to her experience providing disaster counseling following the unthinkable tragedy on Northern Illinois University’s campus on 2/14/08. Her counseling orientation is integrative, with an emphasis on interpersonal/relational and client centered perspectives. Dr. Waites remains active and involved in various volunteer organizations outside of her work with Rosalind Franklin University Health System.
