The M.S. in Psychology: Clinical Counseling program is designed to provide the student with a scientist-practitioner education in psychology in preparation for practice in the mental health field as a Licensed Professional Counselor or as preparation for future doctoral level studies. The M.S. in Psychology: Clinical Counseling is offered alongside RFUMS' existing APA-approved Doctoral program in Clinical Psychology. The classroom and clinical placements will prepare students to function as a mental health professional skilled in the application of empirically supported treatments. Because our curriculum is informed by the rich theoretical and empirical literatures regarding valid and effective assessments and treatment methods, students will gain classroom and clinical exposure to state-of-the-art cognitive-behavioral approaches to the assessment and treatment of various behavioral health difficulties in children, adults and families. Additionaly, students will receive training in research methodologies that will provide a foundation for evaluation of empirical studies as they relate to practice.
