Each summer the Office of Faculty Affairs and Equity hosts the CMS Faculty and Friends Recognition Dinner to recognize the dedicated excellence in teaching demonstrated by CMS faculty members, including on-site faculty, alumni, and affiliate voluntary faculty.

Congratulations to the 2020 Winners:

CMS CHAMPION AWARD 

This award is given to faculty members who exemplify the values of the CMS mission statement, with emphasis on leadership-driven, knowledge-focused inquiry and proven outcomes. The award recipient is an exemplary contributor to the mission and embodies the core values of the institution (civility, diversity, excellence, innovation, integrity, scholarship, and teamwork) into all aspects of professional life.

CMS Dean’s Award for Excellence in Clinical Education 

This award is given to clinician educators who demonstrate empathy and respect for students and create a culture that encourages students to express their ideas. These educators serve as exemplary role models who exhibit professional values and standards and are exceptional teachers who stimulate student intellectual achievement through superior communication skills and interpersonal rapport.

CMS Dean’s Award for Excellence in Educational Innovation 

This award is given to a faculty member who demonstrates innovation in teaching and learning approaches, with a focus on significant accomplishments in curriculum and instructional development. Examples of this accomplishment include new or revised courses, programs, teaching tools in written or electronic form, and research in medical education that enhances the quality of teaching.

This award is given to a faculty member who has served as an exceptional mentor to other faculty members. The award is meant to recognize the process by which faculty serve as role models for each other, promoting others' professional development, and creating a supportive, positive working environment.
