The summer projects will be aimed at designing personalized patient clinical laboratory reports and patient education material to evaluate understanding of cardiovascular disease outcomes and risk factors. We hypothesize that the patients who are provided the intervention of personalized laboratory report and education tools, are likely to show better management and understanding of their health condition.

The study deals with the use of social media in the classroom setting. The study assesses whether social media use promotes better communication, engagement among pharmacy students in the classroom. The study also assesses whether social media use promotes better sense of participation amongst pharmacy students in the classroom. The overall aim of the study is to assess whether social media use creates a better social environment and thereby promotes better learning and outcomes in the pharmacy schools classroom.

Alzheimer's disease project, looking for someone with NMR, HPLC, MS, or in vtro or in vivo PK/ADME experience, or cell culture experience.

The proposed studies will examine the role of gap junctions, connexin hemichannels and calcium-activated chloride channels in maintaining lens homeostasis and clarity, and determine how perturbations in these channels can lead to the development of cataracts and the inability of the lens to alter its shape and focus properly during accommodation.

Design individualized patient education materials that can be loaded onto a smartphone, tablet or laptop computer-- Healthcare provider(s) would select material and reinforcement tools individually for their patient to optimize both acute and chronic disease management. I hope to recruit students from CMS and College of Pharmacy. The DePaul Computer Science Department will also be involved. I believe graduate Nursing and Psychology would round out this perfect interprofessional, patient-centered team.
