John Edward Vitale, PhD, MHS, PA (ASCP)cm

Associate Professor, Vice Dean College of Health Professions

Dr. Vitale is the Vice Dean of the College of Health Professions.  He trained in several of the nation’s leading pathology departments, including those at Yale-New Haven Hospital and the Harvard Affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital.  Prior to coming to Rosalind Franklin University in 2003 he was a clinical associate in the Department of Pathology at Dartmouth Medical School.  His clinical expertise is in surgical pathology and his scholarly interests range from cancer biology to the history of medicine.   He has published works most recently on the role of craft in health professions education and his current research focus is on applying the Rasch model of measurement to developing assessment instruments for graduate medical education and the clinical training of other health professions students.
