Michel Statler,  MLA, PA-C

Associate Professor, Acting Chair/Program Director

Michel Statler, MLA, PA-C, Acting Chair/Program Director, was appointed April 15, 2013.  She received a bachelor’s degree from the Surgeons Assistant Program at the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1980 and a master’s degree in liberal arts from Southern Methodist University in 2000.  Michel was the Associate Director at two PA programs, the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, TX and Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ before becoming the first PA educator to join the staff at the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA).  In her role as Senior Director of Academic Affairs, she played a role in moving several initiatives forward, to include expansion of the physician assistant workforce, development of resources to support clinical education, preceptor development, and a new line of end of rotation exams designed to help meet program needs for student assessment as well as ongoing program evaluation.

Michel currently serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Physician Assistant Education as well as a member of PAEA’s Faculty Development Council and the Emergency Medicine and Surgery Rotation Exam Review Committee.
