Philip Gianfortune, DPM

Professor & Senior Director, Educational Support & Programming

Dr. Gianfortune was born and raised in the center of Chicago. He graduated with a BS in Biology from Loyola University in New Orleans. He graduated from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine in 1982 just as the name was being changed to Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine. After podiatry school, he completed a surgical residency at Hines Veterans Hospital in Maywood, Illinois. Dr. Gianfortune opened an inner city private office after completing his residency. He started teaching part-time in the Radiology Department in 1989. He became a faculty member at the college in 1992 and served as Assistant Chair of the department until 2000. In 2000 he became Chair of the Medicine Department and guided it through the merger with the University. After 24 years, Dr. Gianfortune gave up his private practice in 2007. Dr. Gianfortune became Senior Director of Educational Support and Programming in 2011.
