You Give Bones a Bad Name

Teaching & Learning

The Boxer Library is the perfect place for students to study, collaborate and complete assignments. It’s also the perfect place to house the university’s newly and coolly named resident skeleton: Bone Jovi.

The library staff held the first annual naming contest for its artificial skeleton model. It was neck-and-neck among Franklinstein, Marrow Streep, Dr. McCracken and Ross, but Bone Jovi stole the majority vote. The winning name was submitted by Cavan Pellegrino, CHP ’26; Elizabeth Schmid, CMS ’29; and an anonymous student from the College of Nursing.

“While Bone Jovi has been a resident of the library for quite some time and has been informally known by a number of names among our staff, we wanted to find a way to solidify the skeleton as a true figure of our campus and library culture,” says Claressa Slaughter, education and curriculum librarian. Bone Jovi is livin’ on a prayer … and a library chair.
