School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies

Career Development

Postdoctoral fellows comprise a key and vital component of the mission of the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (SGPS).  Fellows are integral and indispensible to the biomedical research programs at RFUMS.  They drive innovative research through use of modern technology, collaboration, and personal vigor.  Postdoctoral fellows also significantly contribute to the mission of SGPS through training of graduate students and other laboratory personnel.  Importantly, postdoctoral fellows require broad-based and yet highly specific training and development to successfully acquire career positions in science and science-related fields.

To enhance scientific and career development of postdoctoral fellows at RFUMS, the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies administers the program, Career Enhancement and Development for Postdoctoral Fellows  (CED.PDF).  The program is operated by a steering committee of postdoctoral fellows in consultation with the Dean of SGPS.  Elements of the program include an invited speaker series, workshops, Individual Development Plans (IDPs), professional development opportunities (e.g. teaching, etc), and individual preparation for successful job search.
