Position Summary: A well-established private practice pathology group in Southern Indiana is seeking a Pathologists' Assistant to fill an immediate opening for a PA position. The practice supports a high-volume surgical pathology service, processing 40,000+ specimens annually, with a low autopsy volume (typically fewer than 10 per year). Key Responsibilities: Perform gross examination and dissection of a wide variety of surgical pathology specimens (small biopsies through complex resections) • Ensure accurate specimen identification, orientation, inking, section selection, and documentation in accordance with departmental protocols • Create high-quality gross descriptions and ensure appropriate submission of tissue for histology, ancillary studies, and special testing as indicated • Support overall specimen workflow, including triage, prioritization, and communication with pathologists and laboratory staff • Participate in autopsy services as needed (low annual volume), consistent with training and departmental practices • Maintain compliance with applicable quality and safety standards, including proper handling of specimens and biohazard protocols • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, particularly as new histology and grossing facilities come online. 

Required Qualifications: Graduate of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant program and/or • ASCP certification as a Pathologists' Assistant (PA(ASCP)) or exam eligible • Demonstrated ability (or training-level competency) to gross a broad range of surgical pathology specimens • Strong attention to detail, organization, and commitment to quality and patient safety • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team-based environment. 

Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in a high-volume surgical pathology environment • Comfort with complex specimen types and efficient case throughput while maintaining accuracy • Interest in contributing to workflow optimization in a newly modernized lab setting.
