Interprofessional Clinic Initiative
The Interprofessional Clinic Initiative is a student organization responsible for running the free, student-run, Interprofessional Community Clinic (ICC). In Fall 2013, the ICC opened its doors for the first time and saw just two patients. As of Spring 2015, the ICC has seen over 1,000 unique patients and over 500 RFUMS students from various programs have had the opportunity to get hands-on experience. Teams of students with clinical faculty oversight come together on Thursday evenings to provide services in general medicine, podiatry, pharmacy, physical therapy, psychology, and ophthalmology. The patients served are uninsured or underinsured, many speak only Spanish, and the vast majority reside within 10 miles of the clinic. As the ICC is about to enter the third year of service, explorations for expansion are underway. The organization hopes to serve more patients and provide more student experience in the near future.
