Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center
The James Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC) is an academic acute inpatient and outpatient facility with medical and surgical capabilities. The hospital also includes acute and long term mental health units substance abuse program, extended care services (including nursing home, palliative and hospice care) and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation programs. The main mission of the institution is excellent patient care, education and research. The hospital utilizes an advanced electronic health record that includes information from veterans and Navy beneficiaries; this system provides ready access to all inpatient and outpatient medical records, including laboratory and radiographic information from both local and national sources. Electronic medical databases are incorporated into the electronic health record. Geriatrics, mental health and rehabilitation teaching is enhanced by exposure to a diverse patient population in specialized settings staffed by highly specialized providers. All residents have access to a library with an extensive database of print and online materials as well as conference rooms with up to date technology that facilitate interactive educational programs. This facility will provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care to a diverse population of veterans, new recruits, active duty and retired military personnel, and dependents of all ages and both sexes.
Mount Sinai Hospital and Medical Center
Mount Sinai Hospital and Medical Center has a Category 1, Class 1 Emergency Room. Residents work with diverse adult patients of all ages and a wide variety of medical and surgical problems. Faculty is on-site 24 hours per day to provide support, teaching, and supervision. Residents rotate for two months in their PGY2 year. Critical Care Cardiology will provide experience in acute care to patients before and after interventional cardiology procedures. Residents in ICU will be exposed to critically ill patients needing ventilator and pressor support.
Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center
Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center has rotations that offer diverse medical care and exposure to both general medicine and telemetry patients with a team of 3 residents (PGY1 and 2 seniors, PGY2 or PGY3) and 2 cardiology attendings assisting. Residents will be given opportunities for education via daily didactics by the rounding physician, twice-weekly didactics by the attending cardiologist, and the opportunity to attend weekly CME conferences held at the medical center.
