RFUMS-Amgen Rare Diseases Medical Affairs Fellowship Program
Amgen, in partnership with Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, College of Pharmacy offers a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in Medical Affairs with a focus on Scientific Communications. This program is designed to provide recent PharmD graduates with the opportunity to gain essential skills and hand-on experience needed to thrive in Medical Affairs roles within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. Additionally, the fellow will receive an appointment at Rosalind Franklin as an adjunct faculty member and participate in both didactic teaching and experiential course work with pharmacy students. This dual-setting fellowship is organized to provide experiences that foster the development of advanced professional skills.
Objective
The fellowship aims to develop a highly skilled professional with scientific expertise, strong business acumen, and the versatility needed to succeed in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
During the two-year program, the fellow will gain insight into how Scientific Communications plays a key role in implementing and executing medical affairs strategies within their assigned therapeutic area. The fellow will develop core competencies in Medical Affairs, including strategic and analytical thinking.
The fellow will work collaboratively with the Global and US Medical teams, contributing to and leading meaningful projects while serving as an integral member of the cross-functional organization.
The fellow will rotate through these core Scientific Communication functions:
- Medical Content: The fellow will contribute to and lead the development of high-impact scientific and medical content for field medical use, medical affairs presentations, and medical booth materials at key congresses.
- Scientific Communications Review/Medical: As part of a cross-functional team, the fellow will conduct in-depth review of promotional and non-promotional materials to ensure they are medically and scientifically accurate, relevant, and supported by substantial evidence.
- Publications: The fellow will gain experience in developing comprehensive publication plan to communicate key findings and research results in alignment with the overall medical and scientific strategy. The individual will also manage the creation of abstracts, posters and/or manuscript.

Application
Eligibility Requirements:
- Completion of a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D.) at an ACPE-accredited institution
- Passionate about creating impactful medical content and driving scientific communications
- Industry/FDA internships or rotations, or equivalent are preferred, but not required
