Dr. Biana Kotlyar graduated from University of the Americas in Nevis in 2011. She went on to complete her psychiatry residency at Chicago Medical School and graduated in 2015. She is board certified in psychiatry. Right after residency, she worked at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she ultimately became Medical Director and continued working as a site director for the Medical College of Wisconsin. She has accumulated several awards and accolades for her dedication and teaching of medical students and residents. She returned "home" to Chicago Medical School as the Education Director for Psychiatry in 2019 and works clinically at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Healthcare Center in North Chicago, Illinois. 

Dr. Kotlyar's clinical focus is consultation-liaison service and electroconvulsive therapy service. She is currently working to implement ketamine infusion and transmagnetic stimulation as treatment options for the veterans and active duty service members that she serves. Dr. Kotlyar's research focus includes medical student wellness, connection between work and mental health, and improving the psychiatry curriculum.

In her spare time, Dr. Kotlyar enjoys live performance theater, guided meditation, tending to her increasing number of house plants, as well as vacationing with her family.
