Global Health Learning Opportunities

Our Office of Global Health Initiatives organizes opportunities to learn from and serve communities in low and middle income countries (LMIC) to identify and remedy health disparities.

Why Global Health at RFUMS?

The focus of our Global Health efforts at RFU is meeting the health needs of all people—especially the poor in underserved communities—with compassion, integrity, high ethical standards, and a high level of competence. We believe the benefits of learning in and about other parts of the world are invaluable, honing cross-cultural communication and problem-solving skills that improve care delivery and patient outcomes even in the US.

RFUMS is especially well-suited to advance the field of Global Health due to our interprofessional approach to learning and service.

Our partnership sites in Mexico, St. Lucia, and Uganda and our partnership with Child Family Health International (CFHI)—who offer global health learning experiences at 31 sites in 10 countries—are at the heart of our Global Health Program. During the past three academic years, more than 200 RFUMS students traveled through Global Health, ultimately visiting 28 countries.
