Founding Chair/Program Director, and Assistant Professor of Doctor of Nursing Practice: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program

Dr. Christopher Reddin is the Founding Chair/Director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner program at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. After a career in the U.S. military spanning 30+ years, Chris retired from active service in 2019 and entered private practice. Joining the Rosalind Franklin team full-time in October of 2021, he continues to see patients as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner every week.

Following the completion of his bachelor's degree in Nursing in 1992 at Winona State University, he was commissioned in the US Navy and spent the first half of his career assigned to emergency, trauma and critical care billets. In 2003, Chris completed his master's in critical care nursing at Rush University Chicago.

Having spent a significant portion of his career in both military and civilian Emergency Departments as a staff nurse and Clinical Nurse Specialist, he was unsatisfied with how mental illness was managed. As a result, he went back to school in his 40s to make a difference as a provider and scientist, attaining a post-masters Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner certificate in 2012, and PhD in 2013; also, at Rush University.
