Dr. Elham Abboud received her medical degree from Damascus University School of Medicine, Syria, in 1988. She completed an internship at Damascus University, and completed a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Dr. Abboud is certified in anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology. She is currently affiliated with the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, where she is the Assistant Medical Director of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Midwestern Regional Medical Center. Previous job positions include director of the Hematology Lab at Mount Sinai Health Systems in Chicago.

Dr. Abboud has been published in medical journals such as the American Journal of the Medical Sciences, Archives of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, and the Journal of Urologic Pathology. She is a member of the College of American Pathologists, the American Society for Clinical Pathology, the Illinois Registry of Anatomic Pathology, and the Illinois Society of Pathologists. She is also Chairperson of the Cancer Committee at Midwestern.

She has been a faculty member at Chicago Medical School for more than ten years.
