Michael Zdon, MD, FACS

Dr. Michael Zdon retired in 2025 after serving as a full time faculty member at Chicago Medical School since October of 1988. He received his MD from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine and completed his training in General Surgery at The University of Kansas Medical School in Kansas City. He is Board Certified in both General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.
During his time at CMS, his responsibilities included Professor of Surgery and Critical Care Medicine, Chief of General Surgery, Program Director of the CMS Surgery Residency Program, site coordinator for the Surgery Clerkship, Vice Chair and Chair of Surgery, Assistant Education Director for Surgery, Senior Associate Dean for Continuing Medical Education and Graduate Medical Education, Designated Institutional Official (DIO), and Vice Chair of Clinical Sciences.
Dr. Zdon is a member of many local, regional, and national professional societies including the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, the Society of University Surgeons, and the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract. He is a past President of the Chicago Surgical Society and a former Governor and Past President of the Chicago Metropolitan Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. His clinical interests are focused on Endocrine Surgery and he is currently on the medical staff of Advocate Condell and Lutheran General Hospitals.
